A 214MW solar project in Lower Wonga, Queensland

This 214MWp solar project in Lower Wonga, Queensland began construction in June 2021, and interested parties will be able to find all the information they need about the Woolooga solar project here.

The solar farm development approval consists of three sites (i.e. Woolooga 1 and Woolooga 2 Site B, collectively known as ‘Woolooga North’ and Woolooga 2 Site A, known as ‘Woolooga South’) forming one project which will have an export capacity of 176MW AC. The whole of the solar farm covers approximately 500 hectares of land, which has predominantly been used for grazing.

Woolooga Battery Energy Storage System

We are developing and constructing a 200MW/400MWh (two hour duration) Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) on our Woolooga Solar Farm.

The BESS will facilitate the integration of renewable energy into the grid, helping to support low-cost electricity and the enhanced reliability of the National Electricity Market (NEM) as well as Queensland’s electricity grid.

You can learn more about the Woolooga BESS below.

Construction Detail

Construction commenced in June 2021. As required in the Development Consents, a suite of management plans have been prepared to manage potential impacts during the construction and operation of the solar farm. Additionally, all relevant permits have been received from a number of government authorities to ensure all works are undertaken in a safe and responsible manner, including, but not limited to, Gympie Regional Council, the Department of Transport and Main Roads, WorkSafe and the Queensland Rural Fire Service.
