Bilal Sheikh
Group Chief Investment Officer
Bilal is the Chief Investment Officer at Lightsource bp, taking up the role in October 2024 after serving as Senior Advisor to Group CEO Joaquin Oliviera.
As CIO, Bilal will lead the Structured Finance, M&A, Commercial Analysis and Investment Management teams. Bilal will be responsible for delivering Lightsource bp’s investment strategy, as well as managing the company’s strategic investment partnerships.
Prior to joining Lightsource bp, Bilal led the Trinidad CFO organization overseeing bp’s full value chain gas business in the region. He has 20 years of deep experience across commercial, M&A and business development roles in the North and South America, UK, Middle East and Trinidad and Tobago.
Bilal has a Masters in Law degree from UCL and an MBA from Cornell University. While his early career was in Law, he leveraged his experience in negotiations and deal-making, to switch profession and deepen his experience in finance.
He is highly effective at finding creative solutions to complex problems and deals, and is adept at building strong relationships internally and externally which deliver material outcomes.
