Planning application for 68MW Kilkenny solar project submitted
This week marked a milestone for our team in the Irish solar market – our 68MW Castlegarden solar project in Thomastown, Co. Kilkenny, was submitted for consideration. If approved, the project will generate enough renewable electricity to power the equivalent of almost 20,000 households every year. Castlegarden solar project will also save 35,400 tonnes of carbon emissions, the equivalent of taking around 21,300 fuel-burning cars off the road per year.
As with all of our Irish solar sites, Castlegarden has been carefully designed to integrate into the local landscape, and to live up to our commitments to sustainability. If approved, as well as boosting biodiversity and supporting the local rural economy, this project will contribute positively to the Republic of Ireland’s climate goals. Irish projects such as Castlegarden are an important part of reaching our ambitious goal of developing 25GW by 2025, and enabling nations, businesses and utilities to decarbonise.
