34MWdc in Leamlara, Knockraha, County Cork

Ballyvatta-Clash is a 34MWdc solar project in County Cork, which received planning permission in July 2018.

The Ballyvatta-clash solar project design provides sufficient area for sheep to graze the pastureland between the panels, made possible because of the large areas between the panels which help reduce shading and increase solar generation efficiency. Wide spaces between the perimeter boundaries also create an area suitable for wildflowers to be grown, helping increase biodiversity and providing an area for animals to graze. Mammal gates on the perimeter will allow small fauna to pass through the site, creating a migratory path with a source of food for native wildlife.

We hosted a community consultation for the project to gather feedback from residents. Community consultation is an important part of the development process as it provides an opportunity to engage with local communities, allowing us to provide additional information and residents an opportunity to offer any suggestions.
