Solar and nature in perfect harmony

SolarPower Europe have released this year’s entries for their 2023 photo competition, showcasing how solar and nature coexist in perfect harmony. This year Lightsource bp has submitted three photos, showcasing our projects in the UK, Greece and Spain alongside a variety of other entries.

From Agri-PV installations, animals grazing amongst the panels, to projects surrounded by wildlife and biodiversity, our solar projects thrive being amongst nature.

Once constructed our projects offer an ideal location to boost the biodiversity and resilience of the local ecosystem, providing a place for wildlife to co-exist.

Biodiversity can be increased in several ways on solar farms and the initiatives are usually tailored to the existing environment, so that our sites act as a boost to the surrounding area’s ecosystem. As a first step our environmental assessments help us understand the local ecosystem, and how we can enhance it. This means that different projects host different planting schemes and play home to a variety of animals.

We are really excited to have participated in this year’s event and hope to repeat our success of last year, having been named winner of 2022’s SolarPower Europe competition.
