Celebrating excellence in British Farming
Lightsource bp champions the agricultural industry and its vital role in shaping a sustainable future so it is with great pleasure that, for the third year running, we sponsored the Farmers Weekly Awards. Widely recognised as the most prestigious awards in the UK agriculture industry, these awards celebrate the outstanding achievements of farmers nationwide.
Each year, the award categories evolve to reflect the range of achievements that deserve recognition in the rapidly-changing world of agriculture. This year we were delighted to sponsor the Young Ag Student of the Year award, which recognises rising talent in the industry. This year’s winner was George Elliot from Derbyshire whose proactivity and passion caught the attention of the judges. George showed strong determination in harnessing every opportunity available to help start his career in the agricultural machinery precision farming sector.
The award was presented by Barney Jeffcoat Dick, Interim Head of UK Business Development at Lightsource bp, who joined fellow team members in hosting farmers and landowners at the awards dinner. Reflecting on the evening, Barney said: “It was inspiring to see so many nominees’ embracing renewable energy, especially solar, to enhance the sustainability of their farms. One farmer is even producing carbon neutral eggs!”
At Lightsource bp, we believe in building relationships that change the world. Through partnerships like these, we are contributing to the energy security of our nation as well as proving farmers with long-term, reliable additional revenue.
