Lightsource bp announces key leadership appointments to strengthen UK and Ireland Business Development Team

Lightsource bp is pleased to announce two senior leadership appointments within our UK and Ireland Business Development team.  Effective immediately, this forms part of our ongoing commitment to accelerating growth in the UK renewable energy market.

Kent Hauptfleisch appointed Head of Country UK and Ireland

Kent has a strong track record in renewable energy investment and market development. Since joining Lightsource bp in 2022, he served as Head of New Markets – EMEA, driving expansion into emerging markets, leading strategic initiatives, and delivering major projects including Project Sunrise in Azerbaijan.

His previous experience spans M&A advisory, private equity, and investment management within the global solar PV sector. Kent holds an Honours degree in Finance, an Executive MBA from Warwick Business School, and is a CFA charter holder.

Kent’s extensive expertise positions him well to lead Lightsource bp’s UK business.

Ben Fawcett joins as Head of Business Development UK

Ben brings over 20 years of commercial, strategic, and investment experience across both established and renewable energy sectors. His time at EDF Renewables included leading the company’s entry into the UK solar market. Ben’s leadership was recently recognised by his appointment to the UK Government’s Solar Taskforce, supporting the national target of 70GW solar capacity by 2035.

Ben holds an MBA from the Kellogg-WHU Executive MBA programme and a BA in Economics & Politics from the University of York. His proven expertise in large-scale solar, battery storage, and new market development makes him an ideal leader to accelerate Lightsource bp’s ambitions in the UK market.

These appointments strengthen Lightsource bp’s leadership team as we accelerate the UK’s renewable energy transition and continue to drive sustainable energy solutions across the UK.
