Supporting farm diversification at Farmers Weekly Transition Live
Earlier this month, members of the Lightsource bp team were at Leeds University Farm for the Farmers Weekly Transition Live event. We’ve been sponsoring the Transition initiative for two years now, and the Live event is a huge part of the programme.
Transition Live is Farmers Weekly’s flagship event, designed to help secure a sustainable future for farm businesses – both financially and environmentally. The event focusses on bringing together farmers, policymakers and key industry experts for a day of knowledge-exchange, collaboration and networking.
The ongoing partnership between Lightsource bp and Farmers Weekly Transition brings benefits to both sides. Our presence at the Live event allows us to contribute to the central mission of the programme – sharing knowledge and information to drive the farming industry forwards. Solar leases are becoming an increasingly popular option for UK farmers looking to diversify their income and shore up their farming business for decades to come, while still allowing for traditional farming practices to take place on the land.
The other key mission for our team at Transition Live is to engage with the rural community as a whole, taking part in panels and discussion events covering popular topics like the financial and environmental benefits of incorporating solar into a farming business.
We had good weather and an excellent turn-out, and spent a busy day speaking to farmers about how a lease with us could offer financial security for their family for the next forty years.
