Two New Senior Executives Join Our Group Management Team

London, 6 March 2018

Following the recent partnership announcement with BP, Lightsource BP have appointed two new senior executives to its Group Management Team. Carol Borg joins as Chief Financial Officer and Randal Barker as General Counsel. Both Randal and Carol will be based in London and report directly to Lightsource BP Group CEO, Nick Boyle.

With 50 combined years of legal and financial management experience, Randal and Carol will provide expertise and added insight, which will prove complementary to Lightsource BP’s ambitious international development strategy.

Prior to joining Lightsource, Carol was Senior Vice President and Regional CFO of Southern Europe, MENA and Latin America of Vestas Wind Systems, a global market leader in wind energy. Her vast financial management experience in harmonisation and internationalisation will lead Lightsource BP into its next phase of maturity. Carol’s track record in improving financial integrity and process control will complement the company’s ambitions to grow in new markets.

Randal is an experienced M&A and capital markets lawyer, with decades of experience across several international law firms and multinational corporations, most recently at BHP Billiton, where he was General Counsel and a member of the Executive Committee of the company’s Iron Ore division. At Lightsource BP, Randal will lead a team of 10 in-house specialists, overseeing all legal and regulatory matters for the company, as well as having responsibility for Compliance and Board governance.

Commenting on her appointment, Carol said:

“I am delighted to join Lightsource BP at such an exciting time. The recently announced partnership with BP is a catalyst for growth, an ideal environment in which I can lead the finance function to partner with the business in order to deliver tangible results for the company. I am very passionate about translating strategy into actionable results, which will prove useful as we explore new markets.”

Randal added:

“I was attracted by the opportunity to join a dynamic team in a growing sector. Having worked in a mix of corporates, private equity and law firms in established and emerging markets, I’ll seek to apply best practice corporate processes to Lightsource BP’s entrepreneurial environment. Part of my brief is to ensure the company is well equipped for its future projects around the world, starting with India, America and Australia. I am very excited to be an integral part of Lightsource BP’s vision to internationalise and advance solar on a global platform.”

Lightsource BP CEO, Nick Boyle said:

“We are very pleased to welcome Randal and Carol to the Lightsource BP management team. As we look to expand the business and pursue projects on a global scale, it is important to recruit experienced and talented individuals who can support us in the next exciting phase of our business, which focuses heavily on international growth.”

Both Randal and Carol assume their new roles with immediate effect.
