Health, safety, security and environment policy

Safety is our first priority

Safety isn’t just one of our core values, it’s ingrained in our culture. As a growing organisation – building and operating renewable energy projects across the world – health, safety, security and environment (HSSE) will always continue to be a key area of focus for us.

We are committed to having no accidents, maintaining the health and safety of our employees, preventing harm to those who may be affected by Lightsource bp operations, and protecting the environment. Our commitment to HSSE is a top priority and is outlined in our Health, Safety, Security and Environment Policy, which you can download below.

How we create a healthy and safe workplace

Creating safe working environments is no accident. All team members play their part because keeping everyone safe and healthy at work is everyone’s responsibility.

Some of the ways we achieve this are through:

  • funding, selecting, and designing inherently safe sites
  • choosing reliable contractors and suppliers
  • understanding and controlling our risks
  • managing work environments and travel
  • fostering a culture of care for one another
  • running operations where people can ‘fail safe’

How team members can support safety at work

Here are some ways in which team members at Lightsource bp can contribute to safety and comply with our HSSE policy.

Stay vigilant

  • Reflect on your daily tasks – consider how you can manage risks in your role and make it easier for others to work safely too.
  • Reinforce our HSSE ambitions with others, both within Lightsource bp and with our partners.
  • Hold yourself and others accountable.

Uphold safety leadership principles

  • Never compromise on safety – it comes above other business objectives.
  • Speak up when necessary and encourage others to do so.
  • Treat everyone’s health and safety as if they were your own family.

Reporting

  • Encourage continuous reporting – if you see it, report it.
