Lightsource bp has announced today the acquisition of 6 (six) solar development assets from Orion Renewable Energy Group LLC in the USA.
Marking a major milestone in its strategic US expansion, Lightsource BP has announced today the acquisition of 6 (six) solar development assets from Orion Renewable Energy Group LLC. The 135MW DC portfolio consists of projects in the liquid PJM power pool, and specifically in the rapidly growing energy markets of Pennsylvania and Maryland. The announcement comes on the heels of Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP’s) recently published draft plan to expand in-state solar resources to 11GW, with a goal of supplying 10% of the state’s electric retail sales by 2030.“
The acquisition of the largest solar development portfolio in Pennsylvania builds on our proven reputation as a global renewable energy leader,” said Nick Boyle, Lightsource BP Group CEO. “We are accelerating the development of solar with a strong focus on new and underserved markets, as it is an important component of a diverse fuel mix.”
In December 2017, BP announced a $200 million investment into Lightsource. Two months later, the rebranded Lightsource BP unveiled its first U.S. project commitment, to build the largest solar farm in Kansas for the Mid-Kansas Electric Company.
