Lightsource bp and Meta expand partnership with new power purchase agreement for Mowata Solar in Louisiana

• Meta has signed a PPA with Lightsource bp to support the new Mowata Solar project in Acadia Parish, Louisiana
• Energy generated by Mowata Solar will be delivered to the local grid
• Construction on Mowata Solar will begin in 2026, creating 250-350 jobs

Lightsource bp and Meta have finalized a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA) to support Mowata Solar, a 172MWdc (150MWac) solar project in development in Acadia Parish, Louisiana. This PPA will add new generation to the local grid, furthering Meta’s commitment to expanding energy capacity in the regions where it operates.

This announcement marks another solar energy PPA with Meta managed by Lightsource bp. In 2022, Meta signed a long-term PPA for energy generated by the 134MWdc (107MWac) Arche Solar, in Gorham Township, Ohio.

Lightsource bp’s power purchase solutions are designed to work alongside other forms of energy, as part of an integrated power strategy. Lightsource bp works under flexible commercial frameworks to shape tailored solutions around each customer’s specific priorities, combining grid-ready capacity, the latest technological solutions, and extensive experience in shaping diverse power profiles.

About Mowata Solar

Mowata Solar is a 172MWdc (150MWac) solar project in development in Acadia Parish, Louisiana. Construction is set to begin later this year, creating an estimated 250-350 jobs.

Lightsource bp believes that successful projects begin with building strong community partnerships. In 2025, Lightsource bp made an initial $400,000 contribution to the Acadia Parish Industrial Development Board as part of its community benefit commitment to the area. The Acadia Parish Industrial Development Board supports investments in local education and infrastructure.

Additionally, Lightsource bp developed a long-term Land Management and Biodiversity Plan for Mowata Solar, which will support habitat conservation, land restoration and other biodiversity measures. Specifically, Lightsource bp will restore coastal native habitats by installing native Cajun Prairie habitat and local native woody plant species. These improvements are expected to increase soil health and provide an overall increased biodiversity across the site.

Mowata Solar is the third solar project developed by Lightsource bp in Louisiana. Lightsource bp’s other projects include Prairie Ronde Solar (180MWdc) in St. Landry Parish and Oxbow Solar (345MWdc) in Pointe Coupee Parish.
