Leading renewable finance expert joins as Group Chief Financial Officer
28 January 2022 – Global solar leader Lightsource bp is pleased to announce the appointment of Bernardo Goarmon as Group Chief Financial Officer and Board Member,o joins the company following his role as Executive Vice-President Finance at EDP Renewables North America.
Lightsource bp is currently entering a new phase of rapid growth, backed by a recent ground-breaking investment of $1.8bn to support the company’s aggressive target of 25GW of solar developed by 2025. Bernardo has almost a decade of experience in leading the finance function of a major renewables platform, which makes him an invaluable addition to Lightsource bp’s global leadership team as the business takes significant steps to address the urgent need for action against climate change.
Speaking about the appointment, Nick Boyle, Group CEO, said: “At Lightsource bp, we’ve always said that our strength is our people, and that is true from top to bottom. We’re heavily investing in talent and have added 200 new members to our teams worldwide in the last year alone. We’re thrilled to welcome Bernardo to our leadership team and feel strongly that his knowledge and skill will be a significant asset as we ramp up our growth worldwide.”

Having previously worked in the USA, Spain and Portugal, Bernardo will join Lightsource bp initially in the company’s San Francisco office, before relocating to the UK and being based in the London head office. Bernardo has almost two decades of experience in the Energy industry and prior to serving at EDPR North America as well as EDPR SA’s corporate office, he held a variety of finance assignments at Constellation Energy Group and within the BMW Group. Bernardo is also, since 2018, President of the Portugal-US Chamber of Commerce, and he has a broad range of qualifications from several high-profile institutions, including UVA-Darden Business School, Harvard Business School, the Wharton School and the London Business School.
