Health, safety, security and environment
Safety isn’t something we simply aim for; it’s at the very core of everything we do. Through our proactive safety initiatives, workforce engagement and embedding HSE throughout the lifecycle of our projects, we strengthen our culture of safety and help further ensure everyone who works for Lightsource bp goes home safely, every day.
Safety governs every decision
As a trusted global independent power producer (IPP), delivering end-to-end onshore renewable energy and battery storage solutions – health, safety, security and environment (HSSE) will continue to be a key area of focus for us.
We are committed to the goal of having no accidents, maintaining the health and safety of our team members, preventing harm to those who may be affected by Lightsource bp operations and protecting the environment. Our commitment to HSSE is governed by the principle that safety drives every decision, as outlined in our Health, Safety, Security and Environment Policy, available for download below.

Why safety matters to us
- Every person matters: Our commitment to safety means every teammate, contractor and community member goes home healthy and unharmed—every single day.
- Protecting what we value: Safety safeguards not only our people but also our assets, the environment and the trust placed in us by our customers and partners.
- Driving project success: By prioritizing safety, we reduce risks, prevent delays, and avoid costly setbacks.
- Fueling sustainable growth: A safe workplace inspires confidence, supports innovation and strengthens our leadership in renewable energy globally.
Safety is personal…to all of us
How we create a healthy and safe workplace
Creating safe working environments is no accident. All team members play their part because keeping everyone safe and healthy at work is everyone’s responsibility.
Some of the ways we achieve this are through:
- Speaking up when necessary and encourage others to do so as well
- Fostering a culture of care for one another
- Running operations where people can ‘fail safe’
- Funding, selecting and designing inherently safe sites
- Choosing reliable contractors and suppliers
- Understanding and controlling our risks
- Managing work environments and travel

Our Golden Rules
