Lightsource bp receives Investment Award for its contribution to renewable energy growth in Greece

Lightsource bp, a global leader in the development and management of solar energy projects, has been recognized with the Investment Award at the inaugural UK-Greek Business Awards. This honour was granted by the British Embassy Athens, in partnership with the British Hellenic Chamber of Commerce, at a ceremony held at the Athens Armed Forces Officers Club on 7 February 2024.

The award acknowledges Lightsource bp’s exceptional contribution to promoting trade and investments in Greece and the United Kingdom. Since entering the Greek market in 2020, the company has progressed a portfolio exceeding 1GW of solar and storage projects. Electricity is sold through predictable, long-term Power Purchase Agreements that, together with Lightsource bp’s strong track record in developing and financing solar projects, strengthens Greece’s efforts to attract further investment in the Renewable Energy Sector. Lightsource bp’s extensive expertise in renewables not only contributes positively to the Greek economy but also enhances the country’s energy security.

Miguel Vega, Director of Business Development EMEA at Lightsource bp, said: “We are honoured to receive this award, which is a testament to the dedication of our Greek team’s continuous efforts to grow our presence and investment in the local market. This recognition further strengthens the partnership between both countries and aligns with the shared objective of accelerating renewable energy deployment and contributing to rapid decarbonisation, economic growth, and improved energy security.”

Natalia Paraskevopoulou, Country Head, Greece at Lightsource bp, stated at the award ceremony: “We are especially grateful to both the British Embassy Athens and the British Hellenic Chamber of Commerce for the recognition of our investment in Greece. We are a dynamic and dedicated team, and this award rewards our overall effort in harnessing the country’s solar potential and establishing Lightsource bp as a trusted local employer and partner. ”
