Be the change: December philanthropy update

Lightsource Foundation

The Madrid team took part in Carrera de las Empresas to support the Lightsource Foundation

The Madrid team enthusiastically participated in the Carrera de las Empresas where sport and business unite in celebration of health, camaraderie and teamwork. This was the third consecutive year the team took part, demonstrating their commitment to supporting the Lightsource Foundation. On Sunday 17 December, the team took to the bustling streets of Madrid to contribute to the Foundation’s mission, which currently focuses on providing hot meals to vulnerable children in Sarlahi, Nepal, throughout December.

This year marked a milestone with a record-breaking 35 participants on the Lightsource Foundation team, taking part in both 10km and 6.5km races through Castellana street. The team is rallying for support to raise £600 for the Lightsource Foundation.

A heartfelt thank you goes out to our remarkable runners, and good luck with their fundraising target. To support that goal, we invite you to join us in supporting the Madrid team by contributing to our JustGiving campaign: Crowdfunding to support The Lightsource Foundation by running in Carrera de las Empresas!

We are very grateful to everyone who has generously supported and donated so far. As we approach the final stretch of our donation drive, your contributions, regardless of size, will significantly impact the Lightsource Foundation’s crucial work. Help us reach our target and make an even greater difference!

VIBES

Movember

Throughout November, our VIBES focus at Lightsource bp centred on Philanthropy, with a dedicated effort to support Movember—an annual event encouraging the growing of moustaches to raise awareness and funds for men’s health issues.

A team of committed Mo Bros at Lightsource bp played a pivotal role in making this initiative a success and we’re delighted to share the fantastic news that together, we’ve raised an impressive £1675!

A special shout-out goes to our Mo Bros, whose enthusiasm and participation were instrumental in the campaign’s success. If you’d like to see their impressive selfies or make a last-minute donation, feel free to do so on the team page.

Team members in Athens come together to volunteer for the homeless

On Wednesday 22 November, 18 team members from our Athens office volunteered at Genesis Hellas, preparing 110 food packages for Humanity Greece to distribute to homeless people in the area of Attica.

These packages included a salad, a dessert and two different kinds of main meals. The meals were cooked by two Lightsource bp team members, while the others participated by cleaning and cutting the vegetables, preparing the portions, and packaging them. The recipes created were an initiative from our very own team members, based on the materials available and the raw materials they provided themselves.

It is also worth noting that apart from food, the participants offered Humanity Greece essential goods for the needs of the organisation, such as personal hygiene items, household cleaning items and clothing for adults and children.

It was a day of giving for the Lightsource bp team and an opportunity to support the vulnerable social groups of Attica, in collaboration with Humanity Greece.

If you’re interested in becoming part of the Lightsource bp team, we’re hiring for lots of roles. Have a look at our careers page to see our latest vacancies.
