Poland: Celebrating the official opening of Kotuń solar farm – our first solar project in Poland
In July, Lightsource bp announced the commercial energisation of its first solar development in Poland – Kotun Solar Farm. To mark this milestone, celebration events were held in Kotun and Warsaw.
On 19 September, at the solar farm site in Szydłowo, Piła County, the symbolic ribbon cutting was collectively carried out by Michal Glowacki – Managing Director of Lightsource bp in Poland; Marcin Porzucek – Member of the Polish Parliament; Adam Bogrycewicz – Councillor of the Wielkopolska Regional Assembly; Tobiasz Wiesiołek – Mayor of the Szydłówek Municipality; and Tomasz Taff – Member of the Management Board of the Polish company Electrum, the construction contractor.
The second event took place a couple of weeks later, in the centre of Warsaw. During this event, guests viewed a video of the Kotun Solar Farm and Michal shared the positive impact and progress that Lightsource bp has brought to Poland in the three years since entering this market. The British Ambassador to Poland, Anna Clunes, was among the special guests who attended this event, which also included representatives of local and central government.
The Kotuń farm is a key project for Lightsource bp and represents an important step in the development of renewable energy sources in Poland. It is also the first project of this size in Poland to use trackers – something that many guests were very interested in learning more about.
Lightsource bp is extremely proud to have delivered its first project in Poland, which is a clear demonstration of our strong commitment to the development of renewable energy sources to help tackle Poland’s energy transition goals.
