Spain: Lightsource bp’s projects receive UNEF’s ‘Sustainability Excellence Certificate’

Lightsource bp’s utility scale projects Valle 3 and Valle 4 have been recognised with the pretigious UNEF (Union Espanola Fotovoltaica) ‘Sustainability Excellence Certificate’. This was awarded for commitment to environmental and social responsibility in the solar energy sector for Spain.

The award was presented during the III Sustainability and Biodiversity Conference, organised by UNEF, where the findings of the IV Report on Sustainability and Photovoltaic Plants were unveiled.

These projects, located in Wamba (Valladolid), will have a combined installed capacity of 330MWp (equivalent of powering over 148,000 local households) and are expected to become operational by 2027.

This recognition underscores Lightsource bp’s commitment to delivering renewable power to its corporate partners through power purchase agreements (PPAs), while supporting efforts on environmental stewardship and socio-economic development.

Valle 3 and Valle 4 form part of a broader 500MW portfolio recently developed in Iberia. Lightsource bp is actively engaging with corporate energy buyers looking to secure competitively priced renewable power from projects with high sustainability credentials in 2025.

The conference, held at the Spanish Congress of Deputies, showcased best practices in preserving biodiversity, promoting naturalisation, and driving economic and social development through solar energy projects. It also featured the official presentation of UNEF’s 2024 ‘Sustainability Excellence Certificates,’ which honour developers who integrate socio-economic, environmental, and circular economy principles during the design, construction, and operational phases of their projects.

This certification provides credibility to Lightsource bp’s efforts in delivering wider sustainability efforts beyond the production of renewable energy through its utility-scale projects in Spain.
