More Than 28MW Third-Party Contracts Added to Lightsource bp O&M Portfolio
Lightsource Renewable Energy, the largest provider of solar O&M services in the UK, has added more than 28 third-party megawatts to its growing portfolio of more than 1.1GW.
After securing a contract with US-based sPower, Lightsource will provide a full O&M service to three large-scale solar sites – 6.25MW, 14.7MW & 7.5MW – all located in West Wales. sPower is the latest prestigious client in Lightsource’s rapidly expanding portfolio of asset owners and EPC clients.
Lightsource’s in-house O&M team will work alongside sPower’s own Asset Management and O&M teams to deliver preventative and corrective maintenance, as well as a performance guarantees across all three sites — totaling 28.45MW.
Mark Turner, Operations Director at Lightsource, said: “We’re delighted to have secured the new contracts with sPower and are looking forward to working alongside them. UK contracts can be very demanding and there is a very high level of expectation from the services provided. It doesn’t matter what size or location of assets, there is an expectation of a gold standard service and that the highest levels of quality are maintained.
“We are able to offer our clients a single custodian for their assets, providing a fully comprehensive service covering all aspects of O&M services which can be scaled up or down as required. Having our own in-house team allows us to manage all aspects of the O&M process to achieve a high level of both consistency and quality across the board. We take great pride in the quality of the information provided to clients as well as the quality of the job we do on site.”
Ryan Creamer, sPower CEO, said: “We awarded the O&M contract to Lightsource based on their expertise, their track record of quality and responsive service and our companies’ shared commitment to world-class performance.”
Solar O&M is a rapidly growing industry in the UK and has become a long-term standalone business which is looking toward a 25-year horizon — far beyond the end of EPC warranty periods.
Lightsource currently services more than 1,100MW of ground and roof-mounted systems in the UK. The company offers great strength in depth with a 40-strong team of regional field service engineers supported by dedicated in-house O&M resources covering monitoring, communications, LV systems, HV systems, Health & Safety and Land Management.
The regional teams across the UK are never more than an hour away from site — allowing for rapid response whenever required.
Mark added: “We are delivering performance guarantees for far longer than ever before and are creating the necessary competencies, infrastructure and supply chain to ensure that those guarantees can be delivered. There are more megawatts out there that require maintaining than are constructed each year and this trend will continue into the future, which means that O&M is growing into a huge business.”
