Lightsource BP brings leading edge energy management solution to Australia
Melbourne, 23rd October 2019 – Today at the Energy Efficiency Expo, Lightsource BP launches Tribe, an advanced Home Energy Management System (HEMS) allowing households to optimise the energy generated from their solar and storage systems, manage consumption and save money. A team from the company’s innovation, research and development arm will be at the Expo, providing workshops and demonstrations of the new product to potential sales partners.
Tribe will offer solar installers and resellers a chance to enhance their customer offer by adding smart home technology to their existing solutions. The product, consisting of a simple hub and app, allows users to take their energy needs into their own hands. The hub’s machine-learning algorithms analyse energy consumption behaviour and automatically makes decisions using current energy pricing and weather forecasts to optimise power flows. Through the app customers can monitor the energy being generated by solar panels on their roof, turn their appliances on or off at the touch of a button, and schedule the charging, and discharging of their electric vehicles.
Speaking about the launch, Menelaos Ioannidis, Chief Technical Officer from Lightsource BP said, “We are excited to be launching Tribe in Australia. We anticipate the product will be a game changer in the HEMS market. The technology within the hub and the intuitive app will give households more control over their energy consumption and generation. Tribe will make all the decisions helping households save money, reduce energy wastage and maximise the clean energy generated from their solar system.”
Tribe is just one of the ways in which Lightsource BP is working to meet changing global energy needs and help accelerate the transition to a low-carbon, low-cost sustainable energy system. Lightsource BP is constantly working to accelerate the smart energy transition, finding ways to flex energy supply and demand in real-time by developing technology which helps smooth out volatility and ease grid constraints. This initial launch of Tribe in Australia, and the network of channel partners it will build, is an important first step in making these ideas a reality, another example of Lightsource BP leading the solar revolution across the industry.
Lightsource BP Australia and Tribe will be exhibiting at the Energy Efficiency Expo from Wednesday 23rd and Thursday 24th October, stand no: FF139.
