What does our internship programme look like?
Our internship programme will give you the opportunity to experience working for a pioneering renewable energy business that’s pushing the boundaries of an ever-changing energy landscape.
What to expect from our internship
Internships at Lightsource bp with give you a broad experience of the business. Our mentor – or ‘buddy’ – system means you will benefit from access to both senior executives and junior-mid level employees, who will help facilitate your development and daily task management, as well as serving as a point of contact throughout the internship.
Each intake begins with an orientation, where interns are introduced to key Lightsource bp executives from across our worldwide operations and departments. You will then participate in workshops and team-building activities with your peers. Ongoing professional development is given throughout the internship through mentoring and coaching from managers.
Building connections: global alumni network
All incoming interns are invited to our LinkedIn groups where they can connect with our growing intern alumni network. Our community not only shares career, networking and volunteer opportunities, but also organises virtual or in-person meetups.

Earn a salary
All our interns are paid a salary – we’ll never ask you to work for free. Our internships run up to a maximum of six months and you will receive a salary for the entire time you are with us.
Am I the right fit?
To apply for a Lightsource bp internship, you need to meet a few basic criteria:
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Be fluent in English*
- Be available for the mandatory orientation and internship dates
All students in their penultimate or last year of their BSc, or graduate/MSc students, are encouraged to apply.
*Some placements have more than one language requirement based on the local country requirements.
