Lightsource bp Executives interview with Women of Today about empowering inclusion
Adele Ara, Chief Technology Officer, and Heather Hayes, Global HR Director, sat down for an interview with Women of Today, an organisation that empowers women to pursue careers in renewable energy and supports DE&I initiatives. Their conversation centred on Lightsource bp’s last 14 years and the work we are doing around diversity, equity and inclusion.
Talking about our diversity and inclusion programmes, Heather said:
“I think we’re really fortunate that from our founders down, there’s a real belief that people, smart people, people who can speak out, are what is at the core of our success. So, we’ve focused heavily on how we create and continue to provide an environment that allows people to be themselves at Lightsource bp.
“We’ve set up a voluntary group in the organisation that we call VIBES, and they are there to represent and hold us all to account for making sure that we retain the inclusion and the culture that we think started our business on the road to success.”
VIBES stands for volunteering, inclusivity, belonging, equality and society.
Speaking about our VIBES committee, Adele said:
“At the end of the day this is a community of people who share the same purpose, people who share the same values, and hopefully, people who have different ideas on how to get there, because ultimately the diversity of thoughts is what we are trying to drive.”
