Lightsource bp inaugurates its new headquarters in Spain
Following the exponential growth it has experienced in just four years, the company opens its new headquarters in Madrid, a workspace designed to promote innovation and collaboration between teams.
Lightsource bp, a world leader in the development and management of solar energy projects, opens the company’s brand new headquarters in Spain, located in the heart of Madrid, at C/Ortega y Gasset 100. Since its entry into the Spanish market in 2019 with a team of less than 10 people, Lightsource bp has managed to establish itself as one of the leaders in the Spanish renewable market, where the company has built and connected 400MW and has a portfolio of solar projects under development exceeding 3GW and more than 150 employees.
The offices will be inaugurated by Nick Boyle, Group CEO and Founder of Lightsource bp, who has expressed his satisfaction with the opening of the new headquarters in Spain: “It shows the success that we have enjoyed in this country over the last few years and adds the next piece needed to continue growing in this market.
“Milestones like this demonstrate how our teams work in Spain, collaborating with investors, partners and corporate clients is key to our long-term growth strategy. This strategy allows us to expand our investments to a greater number of projects, achieving the pace and scale of growth that makes us a world leader in solar and that pushes us to achieve our global goal of developing 25GW by 2025,” he added.
Kareen Boutonnat, CEO of EMEA and APAC of Lightsource bp said: “We have a growing team in Spain that has already exceeded 150 people. Europe in general, and Spain in particular, play a key role in global renewables deployment, where solar energy is positioning itself as the cornerstone of the energy transition. All of this while making a substantial contribution to economic growth and job creation”.
Finally, Juan Luis Cantón, Country Head of Lightsource bp in Spain, emphasized that “Spain has established itself as one of the company’s reference markets worldwide. The launch of the new offices opens a new stage of growth in the Spanish market that will focus on increasing our activity in the greenfield segment, where we already have a portfolio of more than 1GW, as well as diversifying our business with new opportunities related to energy storage and hybridization.”
According to the company’s goal of continuing to grow while promoting an agile, inclusive and flexible work model, the new offices offer an environment with different formats in the indoor and outdoor common spaces for teams to have meeting and collaboration areas. In addition, getting rid of private offices and with hot desk areas dedicated to the international teams that work periodically from the Madrid hub, Lightsource bp promotes the creation of a dynamic and innovative work environment to promote innovation and success.
Sustainability and environmental care
The design of the new facilities, which occupy more than 1600m2 spread over two floors, follows Lightsource bp’s sustainability strategy, in terms of improving circularity, reducing waste and greenhouse gas emissions. In order to reduce consumption and ensure the responsible use of resources, priority has been given to the use of recycled and recyclable material, as well as sustainable construction methods aimed at improving environmental quality and energy efficiency.
The building has the highest energy rating (A), with innovative systems to control, measure and optimize electricity and water use, and BREEAM certification in progress, an accreditation that confirms air quality and thermal, lighting and acoustic comfort. It also includes measures to protect biodiversity thanks to its green roof composed of native plant species that are attractive to pollinators.
