Lightsource BP Underpins Brazilian Expansion with Major Talent and Solar Portfolio Acquisition

July 4 2019, Sao Paulo: Lightsource BP, a global leader in the funding, development and long-term operation of solar projects has announced the acquisition of world-class capabilities and approximately two Gigawatts of greenfield solar projects, at various development stages across Brazil, from Enerlife, a successful independent Latin American renewables developer. As part of this transaction, some members of the Enerlife team will transition across to Lightsource BP to continue serving the acquired portfolio.

Through this acquisition, Lightsource BP will significantly enhance its portfolio, bolster experience and establish its ambition to become a major player in the local solar market.

Miguel Lobo, formerly CEO of Enerlife and previously General Manager at Martifer Renewables LATAM, joins Lightsource BP alongside other senior executives from the company. Lobo will join Lightsource BP as Director of Business Development. He has over 15 years of renewable energy expertise spanning Portugal, Spain, USA and Latin America, and has worked on the development of almost 5GW of wind and solar projects throughout his career.

Kareen Boutonnat, Group Chief Operating Officer for Lightsource BP comments:

“This move creates a very firm footprint for us across the region and bringing the Enerlife team onboard significantly enhances our local capability and experience. These are the building blocks of which we will grow a very successful solar business across Brazil”

Vlasios Souflis, Director for International Business Development for Lightsource BP comments:

“We consider a new market entry strategy very carefully, and whilst we have identified an incredible opportunity in Brazil, we need to ensure we have the right capability on the ground to realise our ambitions. We have put an enormous effort into ensuring we have the best team in place to grow our business to the next level across the region.”

Miguel Lobo, Director of Business Development for Lightsource BP comments:

“We are very excited to become part of the Lightsource BP family. Based on our project development experience across Latin America, our team has achieved a significant portfolio in a short space of time. I am personally looking forward to growing and progressing further with the solid financial backing, wide experience and extensive procurement and supply chain relationships afforded by Lightsource BP. This is the next step in putting solar firmly on the Brazilian energy map.”
