Building relationships with local communities at the annual Harvest Festivals in Poland

The end of the summer holidays means it’s time for traditional harvest festivals to take place across Poland. These festivals, called Dożynki , have been celebrated as early as the 16th century. They are important events for communities and provide an excellent opportunity to build closer relationships with local residents and allow us to express our support for their hard work and traditions.

Lightsource bp had the pleasure of again participating in the municipal harvest festivals in Radwanice, Gaworzyce and Jarosław, three municipalities where we have a business presence.

Harvest festivals allow farmers to express their gratitude for this year’s harvest by presenting colourfully decorated wreaths made of ears of grain, fruit, vegetables and field flowers. They involve a celebration within the community and include eating, drinking, dancing and local traditions.

During the festivities Lightsource bp handed out eco-friendly bags containing small gifts – a small gesture to show that we care about the community and the environment and want to be close to the people we work with.

These festivals are very important to the local communities and are well attended by all ages. Supporting them is another way of showing communities that we care and respect their environment and traditions. They allow us to learn more about the people in the area and to listen and make connections.

This year’s festivals were joyous occasions bringing family, friends and communities together. We received a warm welcome from all and thoroughly enjoyed the great atmosphere of these celebratory events.
