Adele Ara appointed as Chief Technology Officer at Lightsource bp 

Adele joins our Executive leadership team

Lightsource bp, a global leader in renewable energy, is delighted to announce the appointment of Adele Ara as the new Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and a member of our executive team, effective immediately. Adele’s promotion comes as Ann Davies, outgoing COO, returns to bp following her successful secondment.

Adele Ara has been an integral part of Lightsource bp since 2014, showcasing her expertise and leadership abilities as Head of Global Business Operations, and previously as Director of Asset Management. Under her guidance, the company has successfully implemented several digital transformation strategies, steering Lightsource bp through a significant period of change with drive, compassion, and determination.

Commenting on her appointment, Adele Ara, Chief Technology Officer at Lightsource bp, said: “Lightsource bp has incredible plans for the future and it’s an enormous privilege to help lead such a talented team to deliver something that is so important to the future of our planet — responsible solar.

“The solar industry moves incredibly fast and to maintain our position as one of the market leaders means we have to optimise our operations in the present, and identify and implement the innovations of the future.”

This transition also presents an opportunity for Lightsource bp to realign its internal structure to better reflect its evolving business landscape. In line with this, the Procurement function will move under the jurisdiction of the Finance team. Our Chief Procurement Officer, Rachael Legg, will continue to lead the Procurement team, reporting to Chief Financial Officer, Bernardo Goarmon.

Ann Davies joined Lightsource bp in 2020 and played a pivotal role in leading the company through an extraordinary period of growth. Her commitment and exceptional leadership has enabled Lightsource bp to expand its global team to over 1,100 team members and 19 regions. We extend our deepest gratitude to Ann for her invaluable contributions to Lightsource bp.

In her new role, Ann Davies will assume the position of Senior Vice President, Wells at bp, beginning on 19 June. Lightsource bp wishes her all the best in her new endeavour.
