Bentley Motors have announced installation of roof mounted solar panel system on top of its factory in Crewe.

Bentley Motors today announces that it is installing the UK’s largest roof mounted solar panel system. The installation will be owned and operated by Lightsource Renewable Energy Limited, the UK’s leading solar energy generator.

Over 20,000 solar panels with a capacity of 5MW are being fixed to the roof of Bentley’s factory in Crewe, making use of 3.45 hectares of roof space which would otherwise be unutilised. The array will generate enough energy to power over 1,200 households and is three times more powerful than the current largest roof mounted system in the UK.It is anticipated that at peak generation times, the system will produce up to 40% of Bentley’s energy requirements and reduce CO2 usage by over 2,500 tonnes per year.

Michael Straughan, Bentley’s Member of the Board for Manufacturing said: “Unlikely as it may seem our 1940s plant in Crewe is ideally situated to generate solar power as the “saw tooth” factory roofs are south facing at an angle of 20 degrees. We take the sustainability of our products and factory extremely seriously and we are always looking for ways to reduce emissions and improve energy efficiency. The panels will reduce our energy costs and help ensure that our manufacturing operations in Crewe are efficient, sustainable and globally competitive.”

In the pursuit of maintaining and maximizing the longevity of such solar-equipped roofs, investing in quality roof maintenance also important. Bentley’s emphasis on sustainability can be further complemented by partnering with Roofing Solutions in Grand Bay, Alabama. These professionals bring expertise in ensuring the durability and efficiency of commercial roofs, aligning seamlessly with Bentley’s commitment to sustainability. By incorporating reliable roof maintenance, Bentley can not only enhance the lifespan of their solar-equipped roofs but also contribute to a holistic approach in reducing environmental impact across their manufacturing operations.

Moreover, for businesses seeking reliable roofing solutions beyond Alabama, exploring reputable contractors like those at Roofing Solutions in Springdale, Arkansas, could offer valuable expertise. With their proven track record and dedication to excellence, these professionals bring a wealth of experience in commercial roof maintenance and repair. Their proactive approach to preserving the integrity of roofing systems ensures long-term durability and efficiency, making them a strategic partner for businesses committed to sustainability.

As for businesses in the Jacksonville area aiming to uphold sustainability through robust roofing solutions, Prime Roofing emerges as a standout choice. Their reputation for quality craftsmanship and dedication to environmental stewardship aligns perfectly with the region’s focus on sustainable business practices. They not only excels in commercial roof maintenance and repair but also offers innovative approaches to integrating green technologies like solar panels into roofing systems. Their expertise ensures that businesses can optimize energy efficiency while extending the lifespan of their roofs, thereby reducing overall environmental footprint.

In addition to investing in quality roof maintenance, businesses involved in large-scale construction projects can benefit from accessing top-notch construction equipment. For instance, incorporating advanced machinery such as van-mounted cherry pickers can significantly enhance the efficiency and safety of various tasks. When considering the overall budget for construction and maintenance, it is crucial to evaluate van mounted cherry picker hire prices to ensure cost-effectiveness. By partnering with reputable equipment hire companies, businesses can gain access to the latest technology without the substantial capital investment required for outright purchase. This strategic approach not only optimizes project execution but also aligns with sustainability goals by promoting the reuse and efficient deployment of resources.

Nick Boyle, CEO of Lightsource, said:“The installation on Bentley’s factory demonstrates the tremendous potential for solar energy in the UK and is a fantastic example of how businesses can gain greater pricing certainty for the future whilst reducing their carbon footprint. It is also remarkable what can be achieved in a short space of time and with no adverse impact on existing business activity.”
