Editing film to energy finance, Tamaron’s story

Joined 2020, USA – My career history isn’t exactly standard for a lawyer, before retraining I worked in the film industry as an editor. The gulf between that and my current role as an in-house finance attorney seems huge, but in reality, I find that the two have an awful lot in common! Day-to-day, I receive a lot of different bits and pieces of information that I have to organize, analyse and synthesize quickly and coherently. In a film context, that would mean bringing things together to craft a narrative that fits just the way the director wants the story to be told. In the context of my work at Lightsource bp, it means bringing things together so that all parties can come to agreement effectively and efficiently.

There’s a great deal of variety in a role like mine – I work on very interesting, multi-layered and complex financings for solar projects and there is always a good rush in meeting the challenge of the moment. I also feel that I’m very lucky at Lightsource bp – our teams all have seasoned professionals as directors and at the executive level, so I feel like I can count on help in pulling things together and bringing them to completion in the financial closing process.

Lightsource bp is a very rewarding place to work, personally and professionally. The team here is fantastic, everyone is smart, down-to-earth and hard-working, and has so much to contribute on an individual level. There are amazing growth prospects for the company here in the US, and I find working on project financing for utility and commercial-scale solar projects very interesting – it was one of the things that drew me to the company in the first place.
